TlpA Temperature sensitive dimer regulating mWasabi expression
TlpA is a constitutively expressed repressor protein which binds to the TlpA promoter, pTlpa, to block the start of transcription downstream from its binding site. The protein does not bind to the promoter below 37 degrees Celsius. It is reversibly deactivated by temperatures above 37 degrees Celsius, with full deactivation at 45 degrees Celsius, and activated again when temperatures fall back to their baseline level below 37 degrees Celsius. By maintaining high temperatures, deactivating the TlpA repressor protein, gene expression is able to continue and be utilized for a variety of functions. This is connected with a mWasabi protein to act as a reporter.
